Creating ecological balance and restoration by turning alien invasive plants into a green charcoal.
We currently clear Alien and Invasive Black and Silver wattle that is responsible for large water consumption and make green charcoal with the cleared biomass. Our chainsaw operators, herbicide applicator and health and safety officers require formal training as well as the kiln operator. We produce green artisanal charcoal from cleared wattle for sale as well as eco-system services where companies can buy hectares cleared which amounts to a certain amount of water saved as their community services initiatives. We have an offtake agreement with a market making company that committed to buying all of the charcoal we produce. The amount of wattle in the Eastern Cape area is enough to keep the company going for more than three years and with the rate of growth of wattle exceeds our capacity to clear them.
